Hi, Sunil here with some quick information about Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the largest Emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the capital and where the highest ranking officials (i.e. the President) are based. It was the second most crowded city in the UAE as of 2009, but might surpass Dubai (#1) in the next few years as its economy and infrastructure develops.

In 2007, approximately 860,000 people lived in Abu Dhabi. This number is projected to surpass 2M by 2010. Abu Dhabi is one of the world's largest producers of oil (trailing Saudi Arabia) and is currently sitting on reserves to last through year 2100.

The Emirate is working on shaping up its future direction in financial services, real estate, travel and tourism, restaurants and hotel, information technology, healthcare and other industries.

It has already established a strong foundation in steel, engineering, construction and petroleum.

Lead by tribal leaders pre 20th century, Abu Dhabi (or the entire UAE for that matter) was mainly a fishing and pearl diving destination later fueled by oil wealth after the departure of the British from the Persian Gulf back in 1971 (which marked the independence of the UAE).

Oil was discovered in UAE in 1958 and the rest is history.

Here is a neat fact. Abu Dhabi is credited with the world’s highest per-capita level of sovereign wealth funds, approximately $1,000,000 per resident.
