Sunil here to talk about the Abu Dhabi airport hotel, a place where you can seek some rest and relaxation when stranded at the airport.

One of the hassles of inbound flights or connecting flights is sometimes they get delayed or canceled. When that happens is that you often have to wait for hours in an airport with nowhere to go to get decent rest.


Luckily you don’t have to go through all this in case your flight gets delayed or if you have to stay in the airport in Abu Dhabi for whatever reason.

The Abu Dhabi Airport Hotel is right smack in the center of the airport and easily accessible from anywhere.

You may not expect much from and airport hotel, as a transit hotel only provides the basics of hotel service and its main function is really to provide a place where people in difficult situations can go to a place they can relax in and even catch up on some sleep while awaiting their flight.

The hotel is not difficult to find since it is located right at the Abu Dhabi International airport (in the Middle). The check in desk is just adjacent to the Gulf Air Lounge reception so it would not be difficult to miss plus you can always ask around and everyone at the airport will know which hotel you are referring to.

Once you get to the hotel, the checking in process is not all that time consuming as you only need to present your passport so they can have it photocopied. This is common in Gulf countries. Hotels have to fill-out a small information sheet using the information in your passport. This is how they keep good control over people coming in and out. Before you get to the hotel, you may need to go through passport control so you can be allowed further.

Once all the check in procedures have been completed you get ushered to your own little room. Like I said, don’t expect too much from this hotel as it only provides the basic essentials needed for a good few hours of rest. The bed is fairly decent where you can have an option of choosing a single or double sized bed. The hotel is not really cheap but in times like these you really can’t complain much. Beggars can’t be choosers.

The rooms are very clean, and so is the bathroom. No need to worry in that department. You get a desk with a reading lamp, a suitcase stand and a chest drawer; perhaps for those who need to stay a bit longer than just over night or a handful of days, the hotel also has a small kit for a one night stop containing the basic toiletries you need.

The air condition is a bit loud when you first turn it on high, but it does get cold very fast so you can turn it down. Once you turn it down a notch the noise will really not bother your sleep. I am not sure if that is just the AC system that they use, or is it a matter of having to upgrade or renovate some older parts of the hotel.

If you are looking for some place to eat there is a small restaurant near the gulf air lounge. You can always ask the front desk if they have room service as well. But like all airports there are some smaller snack bars you can check out if you’re really starving.

Overall, a hotel in an airport is better than sleeping on the hard marble floor. A hotel like this one can give you the rest you need as you transition during your travel. So kickback, relax and enjoy the time at the airport without having to worry about a place to crash.
