Hi, Sunil here to talk about scoring cheap flights to Abu Dhabi

Flights to Abu Dhabi are quite reasonable I think partly because it has not been uncovered as one of the prime tourist destinations (yet as of 2008).

But watch out, as this Emirate’s popularity rises and it establishes its tourism industry (which it’s well on its way to), you will see airfares increase without a doubt.

But with increasing popularity of the destination comes increasing flight routes and competition.

There will be more offers come up so it is all a balancing act at the end of the day.

I personally rather have options. I like options, options are good :-)

Prior to Abu Dhabi’s remote development, there used to be no direct non stop routes to the Emirate.

Travelers needed to fly into Dubai first and then wait for a regional flight to Abu Dhabi.

Those days are definitely gone.

Abu Dhabi is now a developed Emirate and has its own International Airport, which is projected to be able to handle 20M+ travelers by 2010 and onward.

That said, there are just a few direct flights to Abu Dhabi as of 2008. So booking a direct non stop route can be pricey. If you are flexible and can travel with stops (layovers), then you might be able to score a cheap ticket to Abu Dhabi. Basically what I am saying is that the cheapest ticket to Abu Dhabi may not be the most convenient, direct non-stop route for you.

So what should you do? Without a question, your best options are either Etihad or Emirates Airlines. I have personally always flown Emirates (because I have a loyalty rewards account and I go to Dubai more often). However, flying Etihad is just as good. It is heaven in fact when compared to other average air carriers. When I say average you can pick any of the top 5 US airlines (American, United, Delta). Their entire fleet is brand new and the staff is trained extraordinarily well.

Both airlines are government owned. Etihad was started by the Abu Dhabi government in 2003 while Emirates was originally started by the Dubai government much earlier. Both airlines will give you the best routes as well as the best airfares to Abu Dhabi.
