"Sunil,

My daughter has gone home to the Philippines but this are some of the things she did in Dubai. Please correct the places names, as I have forgotten.

Dune bashing

This is the Dubai version of a rollercoaster ride, except that it is in an airconditioned SUV or a four-wheel drive vehicle (we rode in a Land Rover) that runs at breakneck speed climbing and careening down the sand dunes. This is one of the most popular Dubai adventure and it was amazing that the vehicles (I saw ten at a time) did not collide with each other.

This is a real adrenaline pumping ride and I recommend it to everyone looking for a quick thrill in the desert.

Get off the van and try sandboarding, I tried it too, and ended up rolling on my back to the base of a 50-foot sand dune.

Some other things I like about Dubai

Everything that glitters is gold in Soukh. The shops displaying 21k jewelry are open and at times are unattended. Can you imagine that?

There is so much gold here that it probably is harder to find parking in Florence and in many places than to find the jewelry you want and can afford. But don't try stealing - it may cost you an arm literally.

People in Dubai are mostly honest. I once left my cellphone in a taxi and and after writing it off as lost, my sister got a call from the driver after two hours from the driver who wants to know how to return it. The driver found her phone number under my ICE (in case of emergency number) contact number.

The Dubai Park is amazing too. Can you imagine a place so green in the middle of the desert? Well, this is it. This place is a favorite destination for people who prefer the natural air of the outdoors to that of the airconditioned malls.

I would love to have joined the Dubai Creek tour, but my three-days stay is over and have to make preparations to go home.

This is a vacation like no other, and for those who want a blast of a vacation, this is the place to spend it."
