The Dubai Air Show
What is the Dubai Air Show and what is its significance in Dubai history?
Not all air shows are created equal. This is certainly true of the Dubai Air Show held in Dubai UAE. This air show is an international aerospace exhibition that has been acclaimed as a true spectacle. The air show takes place every two years in Dubai and is organized by “Fairs & Exhibitions Ltd”. In cooperation with the Dubai government and in collaboration with the UAE Union Defense Forces the air show has grown from its humble beginnings in 1989 with 200 exhibits and 25 aircrafts to 890 exhibits in the year 2009. The air show has served as a catalyst spring boarding the Middle East region into the aerospace industry. In 2009 the show ran for over 5 days from the 15th to the 19th of November and attracted a total of 52,978 industry professionals representing 138 countries. The big attraction for industry professionals is that the air show presents a unique trade opportunity. Visitors are not only there for the sites but also for the services and to negotiate deals. Undoubtedly the Dubai air show has been a platform for doing business. The next air show scheduled for November 13-17, 2011 has already seen an unprecedented number of companies signing up for exhibitor space. The air show in Dubai has become the foremost aerospace event in Dubai and the fastest growing spectator sport in the world. A new exhibition hall was christened in 2009 to accommodate the immense growth of exhibitors. The Emirates Hall, named after the air show’s sponsor Emirates Airline features an additional 5,000 sq feet of exhibition space, an expanded Press Centre and an additional registration building for trade visitor traffic. What types of aircrafts will be featured at the 2011 air show? Among the aircraft guests of honors will be the Cessna Corvalis, and the Cessna Skyhawk. These phenomenal aircrafts can climb at 975 fpm at sea level and cruise at speeds of 184 knots and more with ease. The Cessna Corvalis, for example, delivers a unique blend of good looks and speed. At maximum cruise it can reach speeds of 191 knots. The Skyhawk, another Cessna masterpiece is the best-selling, popular airplane ever. It is truly one of the world’s greatest crafts with a horsepower of 180. It easily climbs faster and cruises at a greater speed than its sister, the Corvalis. Whether you are an industry investor or a spectator the air show has something for everyone. The Dubai Air Show 2011 promises to deliver even more wonder than its predecessors..
