Dubai Festival City - The Center for World-Class Entertainment
Sunil here to talk about Kishs favorite city the Dubai Festival City - lol
Fun and leisure are some reasons why tourists love to visit Dubai.
Where else in the world can you find a gigantic and diverse place where you can find everything you are looking for in terms of entertainment?
The Dubai Festival City is a leading waterfront urban community which encompasses a large residential, business, and entertainment development in Dubai.
It is another city-within-a-city project, and considered as the largest mixed-use development in the Middle East because all elements for work, living, and leisure are integrated in one project.
It is comprised of various residential communities, a number of hotels, malls, a golf course, entertainment sites, and also offices and buildings for public services, including schools!
Aside from being the center of entertainment in Dubai, It seems like you would find everything you need in this place. I was joking about Kish by the way. But that is precisely the reason why.
Al Futtaim Carillion spearheaded the construction of the project which began in 2003 and expecting to span 12 years to complete. The Dubai Festival City spans 3.8 kilometers from the water frontage on the eastern bank of the Dubai Creek and 2 kilometers from the Dubai International Airport. As of 2006, the investments in the project were estimated to be more than 11 billion Dirhams. I am not sure what the final tab ended up being as we speak today.
Rising along the banks of the historic Dubai Creek, the Festival City is an unparalleled destination for style and urbanity, showcasing an exciting multitude of high-end retailers, gourmet cuisines, and world-class entertainment. You will find a large number of the best stores, best entertainment facilities, and the best restaurants in Dubai in this place.
The Festival Waterfront Center is located in the heart of the Festival City, and upon completion will contain over 600 shops with 25 flagship retailers, over 100 restaurants and bistros, 12-screen grand cinema complex, Bowling City, and a parking space for around 13,000 cars. You can browse through a vast collection of over 400 leading brands in fashion, jewelry, home accessories, toys, and other items!
This retail power center includes IKEA, HyperPanda supermarket (first Panda hypermarket outside of Saudi Arabia), Plug-ins ElectroniX and Ace Hardware (the largest outside North America). As you can imagine however, like most grand developments in Dubai, plans were slightly delayed/postponed amidst the global recession of 2008-2009.
Several hotels in Dubai can be found in the Dubai Festival City, as well as a long term stay serviced apartment complexes, all managed by InterContinental Hotels Group. In July 2009, Intercontinental took over management of the Al Badia Golf Course. Other developments include the 350-room W Hotel Dubai and the 400-room Four Seasons Hotel Dubai, but construction of both hotels was put on hold in January 2009 due to the Global financial crisis of 20082009.
You can be rest assured that a visit to this festival city of Dubai can be anything but boring. With all the shops to visit and endless activities that you can do in the Dubai Festival city, all that you have to worry about is finding the time to try all of it. The Dubai Festival City is the premier entertainment hub in the Middle East, dont miss out on all the fun!
