Hi – Kish here to talk about the Dubai Marina

If you want to sweep your loved one off their feet around a fantastic and breathtaking view, then take them to the “New Dubai,” better know as the Dubai Marina.


The Marina is a district in the heart of what has become known as the 'new Dubai.' It is situated on Interchange 5 between Jebel Ali Port and the area which hosts the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and the American University in Dubai.

The Marina was inspired by and designed after the highly successful Concord Pacific Place development along False Creek in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The marina is entirely man-made and has been developed by the real estate development firm, Emaar Properties of the United Arab Emirates. The first phase of Dubai Marina covered 25 acres, which includes six freehold waterfront apartment towers known as the Dubai Marina Towers and 64 luxury villas connected by a network of rooftop gardens that are divided around each tower.

Three of the towers are named after precious stones, Al Mass, Fairooz and Murjan, and the other three are named after Arabic scents, Mesk, Anbar and Al Yass. The Phase II of Dubai Marina consists of over 200 high rise buildings and includes the Al Majara Towers and Al Sahab twin towers by Emaar. This Marina is the largest man-made marina in the world.

The Marina area is surrounded by water, hence the name “marina.” This is another amazing structure in Dubai, guaranteed to attract tourism, where architects and engineers found a way to wrap the waters of the Dubai River around the city. It is an ingenious and innovative achievement, and another incredible city landmark Dubai has achieved.

The marina is such a romantic and picturesque place. So make sure to bring your loved one to one of the bridges (if you have one), and take in the scenery which looks like an abstract painting.

This is another proof of the economic progression of the city. Like most of the wonders in Dubai, the entire Marina project is man-made, yet, exudes a mesmerizing view that all tourists cannot help but be amazed at. A Dubai tour is not complete without visiting the Marina.

Dubai City caught the world’s attention through its massive construction projects, incredible man-made structures, and touristy attractions. This Marina is definitely all of these combined.


2010 Update: As of early 2010, the project has still a long way to go since it is still undergoing development and a lot of buildings and properties are still being constructed.

Unlike other parts of Dubai, the foreshoreway around the marina and some sections of public oceanway along the beach with views to Palm Jumeriah are all publicly accessible.

The high rise skyscrapers of phase II of the Marina include, super tall skyscrapers, Pentominium, Ocean Heights, Damac Heights, Princess Tower, Marina 101, Marina 106, Elite Residence, and 23 Marina.
