Hospitals in Dubai
Hi, Sunil here to talk about hospitals in Dubai
I have always believed that health is wealth.
If you are not healthy, nothing will seem good.
Dubai is no stranger to good healthcare.
The Government is very serious about it. I remember once during my trip to Dubai in late 2007, the first thing I saw as I exited my plane gate is a huge banner advertising Dubai Health Care.
The government often pays for their accommodation, vehicle and general living expenses (school tuition for kids, travel airfare back home every year, fuel expenses, etc).
Dubai Healthcare ReputationIn a global survey conducted by one of the worlds biggest consumer and travel magazine, Dubai was ranked on top of the list with no illnesses reported as a result of travel.
This statistic speaks for itself. It shows the Governments dedication to a clean, sanitized and disease free environment and good healthcare program.
Medicine / Pharmacy AvailabilityThere are a ton all around Dubai City. Though most close during the night, you will always find at least one that is open and able to serve you 24 hours a day. Always keep this number handy whenever in Dubai (04-223-2323). The 04 in the front tells you that this is a landline so you can always expect to get connected (that is if your phones network allows you to). You can find out the latest information on pharmacies, locations and hours. Store it in your phone right now.
Medical InsuranceThere are both public and private hospitals in Dubai. In my knowledge and experience, both are very good. If you have an emergency case, you can go to the public hospital. Most accept such cases. If your case is not an emergency, then you will have to go to a private hospital. The local insurance infrastructure in Dubai was not as developed as it is in western countries like the United States (as of 2007 at least).
So I often advise visitors to call and check with your insurance company regarding international coverage, specifically in the country / city that you are visiting. It is always good to carry supplemental coverage ( a special short term travel policy) whenever you travel abroad just in case. Private hospitals in Dubai are NOT cheap!
