Ferrari Theme Park in Yas Island Abu Dhabi

This park will be ready by 2009. Enjoy roller coasters, go karts, buggie rides and a professional F1 race track amongst many other park attractions.

Sand Boarding

Lots of fun, especially when you don’t know how to. Similar to snow boarding, water boarding and snow boarding. But don’t assume you can do it if you can do one of the others.

The sand surface takes some time to get used to. but once you’re used to it go at it and have your fun. You can either hike up the sand dunes or have a 4 x 4 drop you to the top. I recommend sand boarding when you go for a desert safari tour (see below)

Desert Safari - Dune Bashing

Leave the paved roads behind and hop on your 4 x 4 and go dune bashing in the desert.

This is one of the best things to do in Abu Dhabi, or anywhere there is desert sand!

TIP: Take the 4 x 4 up high on top of a dune and take a short break.

Just observe the view from a high point and enjoy the moment. Relax at the end of the trip and have dinner under the stars and enjoy a live belly dancing show.


This reminds me of old Texas movies where cowboys park at the end of the day, wind down and relax with a beer outside their tents with a bonfire and some dancers to entertain them. Oh boy that was one long sentence. I got carried away in excitement.

You can go on an exclusive belly dancing show or simply enjoy one at the end of your desert safari tour. You can grab some Shisha Pipe, listen to Arabic music and watch the belly dancers dance the night away.

Sky Diving

I think the title says it all. Adrenaline pumping freefall as you enjoy the sights on the Abu Dhabi city and the beautiful gold desert sand.

Camel Rides

Short and sweet rides and a definitely must do experience. After all how many times will you really ride a camel in your life. Most people never even get to ride a horse, forget about a camel.

You can pre purchase a package of any kind of activity and save significantly rather than buying it last minute (if you are even lucky to get one).

I definitely recommend booking your day with these events ahead of time or have your hotel do it for you while in Abu Dhabi.

Comfort Tips: You will be out and about and “active” so dress accordingly. Wear comfortable tennis shoes or sneakers whatever you call it. If you are hitting the sand then wear flip flops or sandals.

Always take a fleece or a sweatshirt as it could get chilly in the desert after the sun sets. Keep comfort in mind as top priority. If you are not comfortable, you won’t have fun no matter what you do.
