Hi, Sunil here to talk about some of the largest local companies in Dubai

As you are probably aware of or can imagine, there are a ton of companies in Dubai.

Some are local, some are smaller regional and some are big multinational names that you see around the world.

This section is a point of reference for you to use when researching the major local companies in Dubai.

The Biggest Local Companies in Dubai

• Dubai Holding –A large conglomerate that works with the biggest local projects.



• Etisalat – as of 2007 the only company in Dubai (and entire UAE) providing telecommunications and Internet services. (monopoly anyone?)



• Al Futtaim Group – One of the biggest local conglomerates in Dubai



• Galadari Group – One of the oldest since 1960. Also a big holding company



• Al Ghurair Group – A giant real estate and shopping mall mogul.



• Dutco Group – Since 1947, one of the longest lasting construction companies.



• Emaar – as of 2007 was one of the world’s largest real estate companies.



• Nakheel Group – as of 2007 the largest property developer in Dubai.



• ACTCO – Established in 1975. Owned by several international shareholders. Large construction company.



• Arabian Construction Company (ACC) – Construction since 1967. Offers subcontracting to other smaller companies.



• DAMAC – relatively young (1995) but quickly became one of the most successful residential, leisure and commercial developers in Dubai. Does not outsource operations at all.

The above list is meant to highlight some of the largest local players. You are most likely familiar with the International names, but these names are not as widely known.

That is not to say they are not as big. Some of these companies have undisclosed wealth that you and I cannot even imagine. But from estimates we can arrive at a figure that would blow away many Fortune 500 public companies.

Dubai has companies operating in every field you can think of. I read sometime in 2007 in the Gulf News that there is at least one company in Dubai for every 12 inhabitants. That sounds a bit too much doesn’t it?
