Rotating Tower in Dubai
Hi, Sunil here to talk about the massive rotating tower in Dubai in the works (2008)
There is one thing Dubai didnt have in plans until early 2007 when it announced a Dhs.
400 million rotating residential tower project.
Yes, a fully rotating solar powered residential tower which will be the first of its kind anywhere.
The 80,000 ton tower in Dubai is being constructed in the City of Arabia (as of 2008), will have 30 floors, 200 units for sale and will turn a full 360 degrees over the course of the week.
The tower will be powered by stored solar energy and will not require electricity.
The advanced bearing system technology in place will allow a power plant to rotate the base of the tower at 5mm per second using only 21 electric kettles worth of solar power. Construction started in June 2008 and is scheduled to complete early in 2009.
The design of this tower in Dubai was done by a UK architecture firm, Glenn Howells Architects and Palmer and Turner, the master developers of City of Arabia. The unique design of the tower gives it a time line that runs down the building connecting to a 12 oclock marking on the ground, making it look like a big grandfathers clock.
This project will be called the Time Residences and will be lead by Dubai Property Ring, the Dubai segment of the United Kingdom based UK Property Group. In a press release, director Taj Singh of Dubai Property Ring said We didnt want to build just another building or tower, we wanted to create something unique - a precious place to live - a genuine contender to be one of the great buildings in the world.
The statement was in response to an earlier project by Dubai based High Rise Real estate who launched the Dhs. 175 million Rotating Tower project in Jumeirah Village South which features four rotating penthouses and a rotating villa with its own car lift.
Dubai Property Ring plans on building 23 more rotating towers in around the world in conjunction with the same investors finance team that is working with them on the Dubai Time Residence project. Dubai is the guinea pig in this case.
The 200 units within the tower will include one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as duplexes and penthouses. You can add one more wonder to the already long and growing list of wonders to be found in Dubai.
